Three Rivers Regional Library System

TALKING BOOK CENTER

The Talking Book Center serves 12 counties--Appling, Bacon, Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Clinch, Glynn, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Ware and Wayne--with over 1200 patrons.

Talking books are books and magazines in audio format. The materials are recorded at a slower speed than regular audio recordings, so special equipment is required.

This federal program, including all equipment and material for the blind or handicapped sent through the mail, is free to qualified persons. A catalog of all recorded books is sent every two months and books may be chosen from this list or from computer-generated selections from chosen categories.

This program is intended for those who cannot read due to visual impairment or other physical handicap that prevents reading traditional print materials. For more information, please visit http://www.loc.gov/nls/ or contact Jamie Wendt, the Librarian in charge of the program, at the address below.
