TALKING BOOK CENTER

The Talking Book Center serves 12 counties--Appling, Bacon, Brantley, Camden,
Charlton, Clinch, Glynn, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Ware and Wayne--with over 1200
patrons.
Talking books are books and
magazines in audio format. The materials are recorded at a slower speed than
regular audio recordings, so special equipment is required.
This federal program, including
all equipment and material for the blind or handicapped sent
through the mail,
is free to qualified persons. A catalog of all recorded books is sent every two
months and books may be chosen from this list or from computer-generated
selections from chosen categories.
This program is intended for
those who cannot read due to visual impairment or other physical handicap that
prevents reading traditional print materials. For more information, please visit
